To the Barricades and sacred spaces

to boundaries and limitations

to the perceived separation

to all the things that made you safe

and to that time you finally gave in.

To the Barricades began as an observation of the systematic limitation of access to public land, or spaces, in the name of safety.  It is meant to be viewed as a narrative; an adventure, an invitation to explore the edges of your world.  As you work your way through the images, ask yourself: what is holding me back in my life?  Where are my true boundaries, and how can I push them while maintaining my own sacred space?

The Barricades and boundaries are put in place to make us feel safe.  Boundaries are limitations of the possibilities.  What is possible if we overcome the obstacles?  Some of the limitations are set by society and strictly held in place by the collective - others, we set for ourselves.  Do we set limitations in our personal lives, or with our work?

I like to approach the barricades with the intent to pass through unharmed.  Each one is different and offers its own unique set of challenges.
